On January 31 at 14:00, Hu Long Net reported that researchers recruited 40 volunteers, dividing them into two groups. One group took 90 milligrams of curcumin twice daily for 18 months, while the other group received a placebo. These volunteers were aged between 50 and 90 and exhibited mild memory decline but were otherwise healthy. Additionally, researchers recorded the volunteers' heart rate, thyroid function, and overall health every three months. Among the volunteers, 30 underwent brain scans. At the end of the experiment, researchers found that consistent intake of curcumin not only improved the volunteers' memory by an average of 28% but also made it easier for them to concentrate.

Researchers report that curcumin has anti-inflammatory effects and can significantly reduce protein accumulation in brain areas related to memory and emotions, thereby improving memory and promoting mental health.

Reports state: "Our research results show that long-term intake of curcumin in a safe manner can lead to substantial cognitive improvements."

Researchers plan to conduct further studies on curcumin in populations at high risk for dementia. (Compiled by Hu Long Net)
